Chapter 37
CORRUPTED CHARITIES
There is MASSIVE CORRUPTION in the charities like the Red Cross, which now use crisis donations to pump up the wealth of a few individuals rather than actually using the money to help. Since organizations like the Red Cross are the only way average people can lend a hand, average people get eliminated from the equation when their help goes into a new luxury hideout rather than a loaf of bread and bottle of water. But the Red Cross can at least spend $5,000 out of 300,000,000 to make a great commercial with a few mud soaked volunteers off loading a van somewhere, put that on TV, and fake a presence. It works, so why not use misery to turn a profit?
When I applied to the Western Canada Wilderness Foundation to be a door to door canvasser/fundraiser...in a VERY wealthy portion of Vancouver, Canada, I discovered that the canvasser receives FORTY per cent off the top, of donations received. In this area $400 to $1000 donations per door were not uncommon.
I discovered canvassers would “work” in this manner for a few short months, or weeks, then travel the world, return and repeat. Needless to say such income was also tax free! I didn't wait around to see what happened to the other 60%.
Such self-serving deceit repulsed me.
Researching numerous charities reveals similar “for profit” motivation. Good Will Industries, Value Village etc. donate 3-5% to whatever charities they have established a partnership with.
